A message from The Chair of the PTA

Dear Parents

I'd like to start by introducing myself, I'm the current Chair of the PTA, my name is Lisa Snell and my son is in class 3. I have only recently taken over the role but already have a new found respect for our previous PTA as the responsibility is quite something but I am already enjoying the challenge.

My reason for this letter to yourselves is simply to fill you in on what exactly the PTA does. If I'm completely honest when I went to my first PTA meeting I didn't have a clue. So I wanted to fill you in on my role and of course your role as parents.

We are fortunate at our school to have a PTA that is and has been an integral part of the school community for many years.

In its time the PTA has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experience and the school’s facilities. This could not have been provided otherwise. Without the previous PTA Team we could simply not have bought our 10 new laptops, new software , books,  play equipment etc.

I am a stay at home mum and as such I am in a privileged position where I have spare time to commit to the School and I am more than happy to do so. I appreciate that a lot of parents work and simply do not have time to attend our meetings, however if one parent from each family gave one hour of their time per year for our different events our fundraising ideas could become reality and resources and equipment would be endless.

Our PTA is about much more than simply fundraising.  The PTA exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff and parents together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. We are so lucky to be part of a small village school and I cannot wait to start fundraising and making our School even better. Along with the current PTA team, our teachers, Mr Whitehead and all of you, we could make the next PTA year an outstanding one.

Our future fundraising dates can be seen below. These are not set in stone so can be added to or amended. We would greatly value your input and contribution. Our goal for the end of 2016 is to raise enough money to buy cooking equipment to which I will volunteer one morning a week and go into school to cook and bake with each class. We would also like to contribute to a Christmas pantomime trip and further ICT resources.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I am looking forward to my next year as PTA chair and look forward to a few new possible PTA members because without your support there wouldn’t be a one.

Lisa Snell
